Akita Personality and Temperament
Akitas are large and
strong dogs and therefore not really suitable for the first owner of the dog.
This does not mean that Akita are not loving and loyal pets. The most important
point is that they have to be trained and socialized from an early age.
Since they were
originally raised as protectors, Akitas tends to be very careful with
strangers. They can be trained, but to be trained they have to imagine the
trainer as the leader of the pack.
These dogs are not as
friendly to other dogs and tend to go from attack to attack without warning.
While Akitas acts as a
watchdog at home, they don't bark. Your physical presence can be enough to keep
intruders away.
It is best if the Akita
is the only dog in a house to ensure that there are no aggression problems
with other animals.
Children should also
learn to respect this powerful breed.
As with other large dog
breeds, the Akita requires regular exercise in the form of daily walks.
